actually Para/ranger is not bad.....you can spam many conditions and have ur pet doing the dirty work in meele for you.

For a meele preference in pvp i'd say r/war with hammer.....good combination for preassure against casters...

Try the wounding strike build on PvX wiki, I've found out that its the best DPS build for a ranger.

Try death blossom with enraged lunge/ferocious strike. Stuff explodes.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone think they could post their R/P Spear/Pet builds? I'm terribly curious, and also a 3 week old player, so I'm not sure about ability to come up with a good one on my own (as I don't even have a grasp on all the skills available yet). It seems like a lot of fun!

Or:
Barbed Spear
Merciless Spear
Brutal Strike
Poisonous Bite
Feral Aggression
Heal as One
Run as one
Charm Animal
Expertise 9, Beast Mastery 12, Spear Mastery 9

I use this for PvP; if you want to use it in PvE, you can replace Charm Animal with another pet attack, and probably reduce SM and increase Expertise.

Personally, I like the sin version because I'm also a big fan of shadowstepping into the mob but obviously that kills a lot of skills on your bar (shadowstep, 3 dagger attack skills, comfort animal, scavenger strike, IAS + elite of choice).

I'd also recommend you at least try a pure beastmaster build covered in that thread already linked. I just finished all the campaigns as a pure beastmaster and once you get the hang of the crappy mechanics, it is actually pretty fun. If you can clear the space for the 3 pet buffs (Call of Haste, "Utah's" Cry, and Call of Protection), you have a front line attacker who is unblockable and nearly indestructible (no problem solo'ing Magni the Bison for example).
